How To Make A Delicious Chicken Taco

The traditional taco can be made with beef, pork or ground meat, but chicken tacos are fun on their own, and they are very satisfying. I’ve had chicken tacos that were outstanding and ones that were just okay, so in this article I’m going to share a simple chicken taco recipe that is both delicious and healthy. This makes a delicious meal, whether you’re having it for a quick lunch, for a healthy snack, or as a hearty meal to take during the week.

Dry Mexican Flour Tortilla

Start with a fresh, dry Mexican flour tortilla. This is one of the best ways to make sure your chicken is well cooked and not undercooked. If you buy pre-made flours you will usually find them already prepared and ready to go. If you don’t have any, go to a Latin Market and buy masa dough from their bakery section. Use this dough to make your own flour tortillas.

Just like the dough, use the masa dough to make your own sauce. I like to use canned chili peppers for my spice blend. You can also use a mixture of ground beef, onion, green chilies, and garlic. Another idea is to buy a jar of tomato paste and combine that with your tomato paste to make a paste for the sauce. Use liquid smoke to cook down the chicken in, and finish off with a little bit of sour cream.

Making Your Taco Different

As for the actual tacos themselves, there are a few things you can do to make them different than your typical taco. First, you can add variety by using different types of meat. Chicken is always a good choice, but you can also try pork, beef, or shrimp. If you’re going to have a kid’s party, consider serving chicken nachos, or having some spicy quesadillas. These will definitely add a lot of flavor and texture, and are really easy to make, too. Feel free to include your own salsa, if you like.

 Prepare Tortillas Properly

Make sure your tortillas are properly prepared, and you can do this by using corn tortillas, or whatever your preferred type of tortilla is. Bring them to room temperature, and then heat in the microwave for about a minute to soften them. When they’re ready, make your sauce (see previous tip) and fold them together into a half-inch piece of disk. Then, put your pieces inside your taco shells and bake in the oven for about one hour, or until they are completely done.

Now that you have your delicious dish assembled, it’s time to clean up! Now, you can serve yourself – or feed the entire restaurant – from this delicious dish. Just throw some chips on the table, or a bowl of peas and rice. Don’t forget the drinks, too – I prefer to serve a fresh lime juice, and either a cold brew or some unfiltered water. Happy eating!
